GRIEVANCE OFFICER RECEIVES CITY OF PEACE AWARD

Leonard Meizlish and Rabbi James Michaels

MCC Political Science professor Leonard Meizlish will receive the State of Israel City of Peace Award. The award was presented by Israel Bonds at a ceremony hosted by Congregation Beth Israel.

Meizlish, a graduate of Wayne State University, has taught political science at Mott Community College since 1962. He serves as grievance officer for the Mott Community College Education Association, the 417-member faculty union at MCC.

Meizlish has led special programs at MCC commemorating the Holocaust, such as "Week of Remembrance: Victims of the Holocaust." He is also president of Congregation Beth Israel.

Also receiving the award is Jeffrey Himelhoch, a Flint attorney. Meizlish and Himelhoch received the award in recognition of their service to the congregation and the entire Jewish communty.

Meizlish and Himelhoch will be honored at a special reception on Thursday, October 28 at Congregation Beth Israel. The event will feature special guest speaker Dr. Ralph Nurnberger, an authority on Middle East affairs.
