The Flint Journal reported this morning that MCC President Allen Arnold will take a position with the West Virginia-Based Appalachia Educational Laboratory, a nonprofit, regionally oriented education research, development, and service institution.
In a voice mail message to faculty and staff, Arnold said he would begin the new position in early September. News of Arnold's departure was apparently a surprise to members of the MCC Board of Trustees.
From the Flint Journal article:
"If this report is true, it comes as a great surprise," said Steve Robinson, president of the faculty union, of Arnold's departure. "He's had his difficulties here and he leaves at a critical time, but we hope he finds success at his new position."from "MCC chief leaving Post." Christofer Machniak, Jorunal Staff Writer.
