Intellectual Property Rights (2/25/99)

Faculty at Mott Community College have reached a tentative agreement with the College on Intellectual Property Rights for Distance Learning Courses. A product of 16 months of collaborative bargaining, this ground-breaking agreement has received attention from the NEA as a national model for issues of intellectual property rights for distance learning courses.

We presented a "poster session" on this agreement and the problem-solving approach used to create it at this year's NCHE Conference in San Antonio, TX. Several people have asked about the PowerPoint slides for our poster. You can download them by clicking here. We have also posted a copy of the PowerPoint presentation conducted at AACC (American Association of Community Colleges). You can download the AACC slides by clicking here. These presentations are in Microsoft PowerPoint97 format.

MCCEA members have ratificatied the new contract language. Click here to download a copy of the tentative agreement (TA) in Rich Text Format.

Below are photographs from the general membership meeting on Tuesday, February 23, 1999 to discuss the TA on intellectual property rights. The agreement was well received by members, who vote on the language next week.
