MCCEA Endorses Candidates for MCC Board of Trustees
The Mott Community College Education Association is pleased to announce its endorsement of Michael Freeman, Pamela Faris and Andy Everman for the MCC Board of Trustees. The election will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2011.
According to Paul
Rozycki, Ed Pac Chair of the MCCEA, "The three endorsed
candidates expressed a commitment to quality education and a concern
for the faculty, students, and staff that is critical for Mott
Community College. All candidates showed a willingness to work with and
listen to the faculty, the students, and the staff of the college in
solving problems."
Michael Freeman
currently serves as Program Director for Capacity Building at the Center
for Community Progress in Flint, Michigan. He also currently serves as
the President of the Genesee County Historical Society. Michael has
worked in community development at the local, state and national level
for over 15 years and will bring this knowledge to MCC to ensure it
remains a vital force for Flint.
Pamela Faris was
appointed to the Board of Trustees in 2010 to fill the rest of the term
of Fr. James Bettendorf. Trustee Faris, a graduate of MCC, has long been
involved in local politics working to better the surrounding
communities. She is retired from the Genesee County Circuit Court, where
she served as the Jury Board Coordinator.
Andy Everman has served
on the MCC Board of Trustees since 2005 and is a former MCC student.
Trustee Everman knows the college’s programs first-hand and will fight
to keep them both open and affordable, an important asset in this
bchanging economy. He is currently the owner of Impression Printing in
Clio.
In addition to the endorsed candidates, the MCCEA also gave a favorable rating to Rob Widigan and Kyle Cawood.
